On June 12, 15, 19, 22, Sondra Radvanovsky will reprise the role of Amelia in Un ballo in maschera at Bayerische Staatsoper in a production by Johannes Erath. This follows her successful run of the opera at Teatro alla Scala, of which Opera News wrote the following regarding Ms. Radvanovsky’s performance of Amelia’s signature aria “Morrò, ma prima in grazia”:

“The unhurried tempo gave her time to utilize the entire dynamic range of her voice (in the cadenza the top C flat was attacked pianissimo and then reinforced to overwhelming effect) and to warm the melody with expressive portamentos. And her stage movements too were finely judged to underline the wrenching pathos of Amelia’s plea to her husband.”

The star-studded cast will also feature Piotr Beczala as Riccardo, Carlos Alvarez as Renato, Judit Kutasi as Ulrica, Deanna Breiwick as Oscar, Andrew Hamilton as Silvano, Andrew Harris as Samuel, Bálint Szabó as Tom, Ulrich Reß as Judge and Granit Musliu as Amelia’s servant. Maestro Daniele Rustioni conducts.
