On October 11–26, Sondra Radvanovsky returns to her home company, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, performing the title role in Cherubini’s gripping Medea. She reunites with stage director Sir David McVicar for this acclaimed production, which she has also performed at The Metropolitan Opera and Canadian Opera Company.

Radvanovksy is considered the preeminent interpreter of this incredibly challenging role. Seen and Heard called her performances at The Met “incredibly gripping,” saying, “She seemed to own the role, absolutely living every moment while exhibiting total vocal control.” She received equal praise for her performances at Canadian Opera Company, with Bachtrack raving, “The myriad of vocal colours, flinty tone and sheer volume for which she is renowned were all on display… Radvanovsky deservedly raised her arms in triumph at her curtain call.”

She joins a fantastic cast, led by Lyric’s Music Director, Enrique Mazzola. Matthew Polenzani returns to the production as Giasone, with Elena Villalón as Glauce, Zoie Reams as Neris, and Alfred Walker as Creonte. Radvanovsky’s 2022 performance is available to stream with Met Opera on Demand
